Wichita Collegiate Football‘s Cameron Brown

When Cameron Brown first stepped onto the football field to play his first game, he was only four years old. Now a senior at Wichita Collegiate High School, Brown is a starting wide receiver and cornerback. Brown said playing for the Spartans is great because of the relationships he has built on and off the field with his teammates. “What I love most about my team and teammates is we are all really close on and off the field and we hold each other accountable,” said Brown.

This off-season Brown has worked hard on improving his game. As a receiver and corner, you must have good speed and Brown has worked hard to improve in that area. “I would say my speed was my biggest improvement this off-season,” said Brown. “My expectations for the team this year is to make it further in the playoffs then we did last year and play for a state championship. We have a lot of returning guys from last year’s team and we are talented enough to win a state championship.”

Brown said the coaches and teachers make being a student-athlete at Collegiate special. “They work together to make sure that all of the athletes are getting our work done and doing our best work,” said Brown. “Academics are the most important thing to me and a priority over sports.”

Brown would like to attend college after high school but he is undecided on where he wants to go.

“I haven’t decided where I’m going to go to college but I’m planning on being a finance major,” said Brown. “Coach Black has been a big influence for me on and off the field and has helped me grow physically and mentally.”
