Shelby Fuqua was a four-year participant for the Winfield swim team and she was the only diver on the team.
Prior to her freshman year, Fuqua had never swum competitively before. She slowly began to improve her time and the hope was to be able to qualify for state this season, which was her goal. With the improvement shown over her previous three years, going to state seemed within reach.
Next year, Fuqua is planning on attending Cowley County Community College, where she will stay for two years before transferring to Washburn where she wants to obtain her law degree.
