Wichita West’s Garryn Plummer – Baseball Spotlight Presented by Hutchinson Community College

By Matt Browning

Garryn Plummer of Wichita West was ready for the diamond this year after losing a potential all-league season last year due to the pandemic.

Plummer was a second team all-league first basemen for the Pioneers in 2019 and would assuredly have been a first team selection last year.

“It was very nice to be able to play this year with basically the same team as we would have had excluding two seniors we lost,” Plummer said.

Plummer said his team, who had been one of the top teams in Class 6A all season, played up to its expectations set forth in the preseason.

“I believe overall our season has gone pretty well,” Plummer said. “There were a few games we could have played better than we did, but we have played really well.”

Once the high school season is over, Plummer plays for the highly respected Wichita Grays.

Not only does Plummer excel on the diamond, but he also is a quality student in the classroom, too.

He was a member of the Health Academy and received his phlebotomist certificate from WSU Tech.

Next year, Plummer is going to continue to play baseball at Pratt Community College.
