As a senior bowler for Wichita North, Grace Gibson is focused on one thing in her swan song for the Redhawks.
“I would really like to get to state this year,” Gibson said. “Last year, I let the pressure of regionals get to me so I didn’t make the cut, but I think it would be really cool if I could get to state in my senior year.”
Gibson took 10th at the GWAL last season and carried an average between 150 and 160. Her high game was 202 and her high series was 526, but she thinks she can take her game to another level.
“I want to improve my average,” Gibson said. “In the past, I’ve mostly been a 150 to 160 average, but I really think that I can do better. I’ve been working on my footwork and swing with my coach in hopes of improving my accuracy.”
Once the high school bowling season concluded in February, Gibson did not waste much time to get back on the lanes.
“I bowl in leagues and tournaments outside of the high school season,” Gibson said. “Usually, I’m in at least two leagues per season and bowl in some tournaments like Junior Gold and Rex Heffley. I also do private coaching on a weekly basis.”
