Pitcher and shortstop for Wichita Heights High School, Blane Kelly, is a three-year member of the varsity baseball team. Now in his junior season, Kelly is proud of the effort he and his teammates gave this season and is looking forward to taking the field as a senior.
“Despite everything we have gone through this year our team has managed to stay positive and kept a good work ethic at practice,” said Kelly.
A 12-year veteran of the diamond, Kelly said his goal is to make it to the college ranks.
“I plan to go to college to play baseball, I do not know where I want to go yet though,” said Kelly.
Having spent the last three seasons on the field with the Falcons, Kelly said there are many great memories that stand out.
“My favorite memory is my freshman year when the head coach then, Jeff Topping bet one of my buddies on the team, Gaige Oakley if he got a four-hit game that he would run 10 poles, and Gaige got all four hits and Coach Topping ran poles the next day at practice,” said Kelly.
Baseball is not the only sport Kelly plays. Since his freshman year Kelly has been a member of the swim team at Heights.
