Wichita East senior Deriek Thomas is a three-sport athlete and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The football, wrestling and track athlete joined the FCA last year and he’s enjoyed every meeting since.
“I joined FCA my junior year when I was told about it by Luke Clayton and I enjoy getting closer to God and allowing him to be my main focus of attention,” said Thomas.
On or off the field, his faith helps keep things in perspective.
“My faith helps me with my athletics because it gives me a never lose mentality and always believe that I can do anything with Jesus on my side,” said Thomas.
The senior has big plans for his future, which includes college and more football.
“After I graduate I hope to go to the University of Nebraska and study Mechanical Engineering and play football and hopefully make it to the NFL,” said Thomas.
When he’s not training, playing or studying you can usually find him with friends and family.
“In my free time I like playing video games, working out, hanging with friends, praying to my lord and getting better in all the sports I play,” said Thomas.
