Wichita East’s Audryanna Reed – US Logo Athlete of the Month

Varsity softball player Audryanna Reed started playing with the varsity team as a freshman at East High School. Reed said she wanted to try something new and softball sounded fun. Now the left fielder and occasionally the center fielder is ready for the new season to get underway.

“My expectations for this upcoming season are to give it my all on the field this season and to be a leader for my teammates. I want to hit a couple of home runs, but I have a lot to prove this year. My freshman year was taken away because I tore my ACL. Sophomore year I was still recovering so I only played half a season, and my junior year was cancelled due to COVID-19. So, for me this year means the most because I want to prove to myself that I can overcome anything that comes my way,” said Reed.

“The thing I love the most about my team and teammates is how drama-free we are every day. With them it’s always good vibes and good energy at practice and games. I love how goofy we can all be together, but we can also switch to be serious and get things done.”

Reed said she plans to join the United States Marines after graduation and eventually make her way to Oregon State University or Northern Vermont University to study something in the medical field or business.
