Boys and Girls Track Players to Watch

BOYS

Zach Trotter – Clearwater

Zach is a versatile runner who should be very competitive in the 400, 800, and 1600. During the 2019 State track meet, as the 2nd leg, Zach took the baton in 15th place and handed off in 1st during the 4X800 relay. The relay finished in 2nd. In 2020 Zach finished 3rd at the AVCTL IV cross country meet leading Clearwater to back-to-back league titles. In 2019 Zach was AVCTL IV cross country runner-up and placed 15th at the 4A state cross country meet.

Paul Sevart – Campus

Paul Sevart is a three-time state qualifier in cross country who is on the verge of being a top-tier 3200m runner. He has the most “big-race” experience out of all of our runners, and never seems to shy away from the challenge. Cross Country has always been his forte, but he will look to make a push to become an elite track runner this year as well.

Ian Hunter – Circle

Ian is a cross country state medalist from fall 2020 and looks to be one of the top distance runners in Kansas this spring.

Copper Collins – Pretty Prairie

Collins will be a threat in the throws and will also be able to help out on some relay events.

Mason Ross – Northwest

A team leader who can do it all in the throws. Should be a state medal threat in all three throws.

Jacob Hanna – Maize

Jacob is a very talented athlete. His strength and jumping ability have increased considerably since his sophomore track season, as demonstrated in football and basketball where he is a DI signee. We expect him to jump very well.

Ezekiel Seamster – Hutchinson

Ezekiel is a great kid and even better work ethic. Loves the sport and does everything the coach asks of him. Very respectful to all teachers and classmates. Is the type of kid you can build a program around.

Brock Merz – Arkansas City

Brock is a senior and the last remaining state qualifier we have on the team. He is a hard worker and was poised to make a run at the medal stand before everything happened last year. I am looking to him to help lead this team this year.

GIRLS

Hayley Trotter – Clearwater

Hayley is the two-time AVCTL IV cross country champion and has placed both of her years in high school at the state cross country meet. This past fall she finished 3rd in 4A. After missing her freshmen year due to the canceled season, she is ready to compete on the track this spring. Hayley is a versatile athlete who could compete in a variety of races ranging from the 400-3200.

Mak O’Bryan – Campus

is kind of a sleeper athlete. She is an incredibly fast and well-rounded athlete who may help us in sprint and jumping events. This will be her first full year of high school track competition as a sophomore.

Kimalee Cook – Circle

Kimalee Cook is the defending Class 4A champion at 100 and 200 meters.

Abigail White – Pretty Prairie

Abigail does a lot on the track for PPHS. She is very fast and competes in these events for us: 100, 100HH, 200, 300IH, 400, 4×100, 4×400, and the 4×800. She will be very important for us in this upcoming track season.

Aaliyah Shelby – Northwest

Returning state qualifier in the shot and just an all-around great kid.

Ally Harris – Andover Central

Ally had a very successful freshman season and was a big member of a state placing 4×400 relay. As a sophomore, she battled through some injuries and was still able to qualify for the state track meet in the long jump. Ally should be ready to have a big senior season.

Chloe Grusing – Cheney

Chloe was a state medalist in 2019.

Stella Foster – Hutchinson

Stella comes in as our most experienced runner and has experience at the state level. We look for her to help lead the distance crew this year.
