Softball Players to Watch
Hadley Colquhoun – Arkansas City
Hadley has been a varsity pitcher since her freshman year. Her freshman year, she helped the Bulldogs reach the state tournament. She has a good mixture of pitches that throws batters off track. She is going to be one of the leaders of the team this year.
Caiya Stucky – Northwest
Caiya is our only junior and had a great freshmen year. She can play 1B, P, and OF. She will be relied upon heavily this season for leadership with an extremely young team.
Sophie Martins – Campus
Sophie Martins is a 1st team All-AVCTL 2nd baseman. She also can play outfield and pitches. She has a chance to lead the league in homeruns this season and has a chance to be player of the year. Sophie is a great player and even better teammate.
Kendal LeGrand – Goddard
Senior pitcher. 2nd Team All-State sophomore year.
Tess Eubank – Andover
Tess Eubank is a right-handed pitcher who ended the 2019 season with 125 strike outs and 100 her freshmen year. She will be a fourth-year starter. She has power at the plate, and amazing movement with her pitches. Her spin makes her a huge threat in our league, in my opinion one of the toughest pitchers to prepare for because she has the ability to make the ball move anywhere. Seminole State College Commit (Juco).
Kylie Forney – Andover
Kylie Forney is our biggest offensive threat, and she has only gotten stronger and better since her freshmen year, so we have high expectations for her this year. I am very impressed with her every time I see her. The sky is truly the limit with her. I think she can play at any level and if she wants. She is hard working, a great leader, and wants to be her best at everything she does.
Alex Schreiner – Kingman
Alex is a star offensively and defensively. She hit .562 as a freshman in 2019 and led our team in most offensive categories including batting average, OBP, hits, doubles, HRs, RBIs. Defensively, she held down 2B for us most of that season and had one of our highest defensive fielding percentages. She also had a 2 RBI Walk-Off Single in the Regional Championship game vs. Haven in 2019 to send to us back to the 3A State Tournament.
Justine Sutherland – Southeast
Justine is our starting pitcher who sets the tone for our team.
Maguire Estill – Haven
Maguire Estill is our pitcher. In 43 career games: 38 extra-base hits, 30 walks (vs. only 3 Ks) and 96 RBIs. First two years combined pitching she’s 27-4 with 186 Ks in 158.2 innings pitched, only 110 hits allowed.
Jadyn Jackson – Augusta
Jadyn is a four-year varsity starter at shortstop who is extremely talented and a great teammate.
Audryanna Reed – East
Audryanna is a senior and returning varsity starter in the outfield. She has overcome an ACL injury to be an impactful player in the program.
Briona Woods – Clearwater
Briona was a Class 4A 1st Team All-State selection by multiple publications as an outfielder her sophomore year (2019). Briona is a very talented softball player with an incredible work ethic. Briona is extremely disciplined at the plate and has great power to all fields. She has great speed and a huge arm in the outfield. She is committed to play softball next year at Butler Community College.
Emma Garrison – Central of Burden
As a freshman Emma made all league and only played in six games before getting hurt. Emma is a straight a student and a leader in the classroom and on the field. She is one of the most coach able kids I have ever coached. She is a player’s player and a coach’s dream. Emma leads the way in the school also.
Kate Pausen – Andover Central
Kate is a worker and a lover of the game. She is a great outfielder that has speed and great tracking ability. She was great for us offensively and lead the team in home runs. She knows the game well and is always wanting to get better. She plays in the summer and the fall and has not yet decided on the school, yet she will be attending to play softball. Kate is also a straight A student.
Delaney Blakesley – Bluestem
She is a junior pitcher. She brings out the best in all of her teammates.
Allyson Montgomery – Eisenhower
As a freshman Allyson pitched the team to a regional championship and on to state. Her sophomore we came up short with a spectacular play by Maize South. She works hard in the offseason and plays all summer. She has signed to play at Butler next year.
Riley Wertz – Maize
Riley has been a four-year starter for us and her level of skill brings our team play to different level. She is passionate about the game, not only playing it, but learning it. She is always encouraging and wants the best from everyone.
Kyla Eck – Andale-Garden Plain
We will look to Kyla for leadership this year. She is one of the top returning players in the state and has signed to continue her education and career at the University of Pacific. She batted over .500 and had a on base percentage of over .650 in 2019.
Brittley Day – Halstead
Brittley has played multiple positions throughout her time at Halstead, including catcher, 3rd base, short stop, and outfield. She is incredibly knowledgeable about the game and works to pass that knowledge on to the underclassmen in our program. With her speed and ability to read the ball, she can be a threat on the bases.
Cheyenne Cooper – Belle Plaine
Cheyenne Cooper will play catcher and 3B for Belle Plaine. The senior hit .463 with 19H, 13RBI’s, and 16R’s.
