Wichita Area Baseball Players to Watch – Presented by Visit Wichita

Wichita Area Players to Watch

Hunter Seier – Mulvane

Hunter Seier played every game his freshman year at shortstop and was outstanding. Makes us very solid defensively and brings a ton of knowledge to the game. One of the smartest athletes I’ve coached in baseball and football. Offensively he was a very tough out and with experience and age we are hoping for good numbers there as well.

Trey Abasolo – Mulvane

Abasolo is kind of an unknown talent at this point. His sophomore year he played mostly JV, but we are expecting him to fill a corner infield spot for us and bring great leadership.

Blane Kelly – Heights

Blane Kelly is a second-year starter at shortstop and pitcher. We will look to him to contribute mightily on the mound and offensively.

Harper Kennedy – Maize South

Harper does it all for us, play any position, find innings on the mound, and is a leader in our program and has accepted that responsibility to lead this team by doing and not talking about it.

Connor Davis – Trinity

Connor will be one of the main leaders on our team coming into this season. In a season of a lot of young players he is the only returner with varsity experience, having started since his freshman year. Connor is an incredibly versatile baseball player and will bring great value to us both offensively and defensively.

Aaron Dimit – North

Also an underclassman, North is expecting big things from the young man this season.

Ian Akers – Newton

Ian is a lengthy athlete who will anchor our outfield and factor into the rotation. He has a chance to have a special season at the plate.

Peyton Rush – Oxford

Solid player, will catch and play infield. Looks to have a breakout year after missing baseball last spring due to COVID-19.

Easton Elliot – Andover Central

Tremendous defensive middle infielder and will also be one of our top pitchers. Hits from the left side and will be expected to be great in all phases of the game for us.

Xander Roberts – Augusta

He will be our No.1 on the mound, has committed to Friends University. Great kid with a tremendous work ethic.

Tate Rico – Campus

In 2019 (state championship year), Tate was stuck behind a couple All-State kids and didn’t get much varsity time. He got his chance in regionals and state and did very well for us. He was slated to be our starting varsity shortstop in 2020 before COVID-19 shut things down. The kid can play, he just needed his chance to prove it. Signed with Butler County.

Wyatt Drouhard – Chaparral

Wyatt is a junior with a lot of baseball under his belt. He plays for 316 in the summer. Good smooth and rangy infielder and a solid mix of pitches on the mound. Has great bat to ball skills and never gets beat by the fastball.

Reid Liston – Derby

Reid will be a three-year starter for us. He hit .386, 11 R, 6 2B, 2 3B, 12 SB and threw 9 inn, with a 2.02 ERA and 14 K.

Ryan Henderson – Buhler

Ryan is going to be asked to play a number of positions depending on who is pitching. He will also be getting a bunch of innings on the mound himself. Ryan is a senior and during his sophomore season he earned All-League, All-State and was named our leagues MVP. Committed to play at HCC next year.

Bradley Neill – Buhler

Bradley is going to be our ace once again on the mound this year and will hit at one of the top three spots of our lineup. Will hold down the shortstop position when he’s not on the mound.

Javon Miller – Haven

Javon is a very good defensive shortstop. Handles the bat well and directs our defense.

El Fahnestock – Andover

Fahnestock is a senior and will play centerfield for Andover. Hit for a .400 average in 2019.

Scott Adams – Maize

Expected to have a solid season for Maize High School.

Cade Little – Wichita Southeast

Little is a senior leader who has been starting varsity since his sophomore year.

Brendon Green – Wichita Northwest

Senior and our No.1 on the mound. All-City team his sophomore year.

Wyatt McCormick – Andale-Garden Plain

Wyatt (Sr.) was our best hitter two seasons ago as a sophomore. He has power to all fields and is a patient hitter at the plate. He will play corner infield and outfield for us as well as be in the starting rotation.

Jaiden Derby – Wichita South

One of several players expected to make a big impact for South this season.
