Wellington’s Rylan Biles – SCCDAT Athlete of the Month

By Matt Browning

Rylan Biles of Wellington was chosen as the SCCDAT Athlete of the Month for June. Biles, who is a junior, plays baseball for the Crusaders. He is a center fielder, as well as a pitcher.

The last two seasons were rough for Biles, as last season all spring sports were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and during the first part of this season, he broke both bones in his right arm while trying to make a diving catch in the outfield.

It took him just six weeks to return to the field thanks to intense physical therapy. He came back for the Crusaders’ final game of the season.

During the summer and fall months, Biles plays for the Derby Grizz and he hopes to be cleared for full activities soon.

Outside of baseball at Wellington, he is also involved in Spanish Club. Outside of school, Biles helps out with youth baseball in the city of Wellington.

He plans on going to college and play baseball there, but at this time he is undecided on where.
