Wellington’s Jensen Lynnes – Swim Spotlight Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

By Matt Browning

Jensen Lynnes of Wellington was chosen as the Wichita Small School Preseason Swimmer of the Year. Lynnes received nearly 11,000 votes, which was nearly 70 percent of the overall vote.

Lynnes will be swimming with Winfield this season, which fulfills the dream of Lynnes to be a high school swimmer.

“It was such an honor to be a part of this poll alongside so many other great swimmers,” Lynnes said. “I am so excited to be the first Wellington swimmer getting to co-op with Winfield. I owe so much to the Wellington school board, Luke Smith, Coach Durbin, and Coach Buffum for allowing one of my dreams to come true and be a high school swimmer. I also want to thank the community for their support during the poll.”

While she has numerous goals in terms of times and finishes this season, there is one goal that might stand above the rest for Lynnes

“I also hope that I am able to open the door for other future high school swimmers in Wellington,” Lynnes said.

At Wellington, Lynnes is also on the tennis team, as well as being on the National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, SCCDAT, SADD, band, leadership and is the vice president of the sophomore class.

While she does not know where she will be going to college, Lynnes wants to pursue a pre-med path and then go to medical school. She would like to swim in college.
