Northwest’s Kashiana Stallings – Athlete Spotlight Presented By Shelter Insurance, Shari Lewis

By Hayden Swope

Kashiana Stallings of Northwest decided to try something new heading into high school, and she never thought she’d be a key bowler and leader for the Northwest team.

“I started bowling at Northwest my freshman year with zero experience, ending the season with a 106 average,” Stallings said. “My older brother pushed me to try out, and I’ve loved it ever since. It has been a great opportunity to socialize and get out of my comfort zone. I continue to bowl because it’s something I can improve quickly at with minor adjustments, and I love working with and encouraging my teammates.”

With new relationships made and goals met throughout the season, Stallings’ favorite memories have been getting to experience it all with her teammates by her side.

“The most memorable moment of the season so far is being able to watch my new teammates come out of their shell and be more comfortable around the rest of the team,” Stallings said. “The most notable meet was winning second place at the Bishop Carroll Baker’s Invitational at the beginning of the season.”

Stallings had a list of goals she wanted to accomplish by the end of season, and she’s well on her way to meeting every single one.

“This season, I want to raise my average by at least 10 pins and continue to make consistent shots. I want to improve my overall form and balance, while keeping my ball under 16 miles per hour,” Stallings said.

After high school, Stallings plans to continue her love for bowling at the next level.

“My plans are to attend Grambling State University on academic, art, and bowling scholarships. I wish to continue my bowling career there while studying fine arts,” Stallings said. “After college, I wish to find a career in art.”
