Maize’s Bryce Cohoon – Athlete Spotlight Presented by Salina Tech

Bryce Cohoon of Maize was voted the Wichita Large School Preseason Wide Reciever of the Year. Cohoon was honorable mention all-league last season, where he caught 40 balls for over 800 yards and seven touchdowns.

Cohoon said the offense the Eagles run fits his skill set perfectly.

“As a receiver my biggest strength is definitely my speed,” Cohoon said. “With our four-receiver set it definitely helps keep the defense on their toes and set up opportunities to break coverages.”

Working as hard as possible has been the focus for Cohoon and the rest of the Eagles this offseason and there is a very specific reason why.

“Coming off of last year’s loss in the state championship has given the entire team a reason to put in extra work in the off season,” Cohoon said. “We are going to try and put all the pieces together to get back to the state game and come out with a win this time.”

Expectations for Cohoon and company are sky-high, but he understands that was going to be the case heading into this season.

“I have very high expectations for our team as a whole this year,” Cohoon said. “We have a lot of returning talent across the board and are looking to capitalize where we couldn’t last season.”

Cohoon has already committed to Syracuse University to continue his football career.
