Avrey Albright of Kingman was chosen as the Hog Wild Performer of the Month for August. Albright was a first team all-state defensive back a year ago, where recorded 55 total tackles, four pass break ups, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and a blocked kick. Albright said his speed is separates him from other defensive backs. Being able to add more weight to his frame, while still maintaining his speed, is something Albright has been working on this offseason.
“My speed is my biggest strength, allowing me to cover the field on defense and be a reliable target,” Albright said. “Defensively I’m constantly filling the alley and am not scared of contact. As far as weaknesses, weighing more and getting bigger in the weight room is something I’ve focused on this summer.”
Kingman fell to Beloit in the sub-state round of the 2A playoffs and Albright reflects on that game often.
“Losing to Beloit in the sub-state game still stings,” Albright said. “It has not only motivated me but our whole team. Although we had a successful season last year, we are not satisfied and are looking to finish the assignment.”
After high school, Albright plans to pursue track in college and study business.
