Kapaun Mt. Carmel’s Frank Alberti – Athlete Spotlight Presented By Farmers Insurance, Brady Carter

By Blake Chadwick

Jumping in the deep end at a young age was Kapaun’s swimming star Frank Alberti, who started swimming competitively for Wichita Swim Club at six.

The senior is the three-time reigning 100-yard backstroke champion, hungry to make it four in a row. Alberti has been very dominant for Kapaun, thanks to his ability to focus on the details regarding training.

“In recent years, I have focused on the details,” Alberti said. “Fast twitching muscles include reaction time on the block, powerful turns, and a fast tempo. Lung capacity has been important to increase my underwaters. Attention to the small details can have a big impact.”

With Alberti’s success, everything is paying off, as he recently committed to the University of Illinois in Chicago.

“I chose UIC because it felt like home,” Alberti said. “After visiting multiple D1 colleges, I knew immediately this team felt like family. I am looking forward to being a part of that continued growth. I believe the coaches will help me reach my full potential in college.”

Despite everything, Alberti focuses solely on being a great leader and winner this season.

“Frank has always been a superb swimmer, but he has never once allowed himself to come across as arrogant,” head coach Alec Lebeda said. “I feel that he has always had a high level of maturity and passion for the sport. Frank has always been a goofball and a fun member of our team at both practices and meets.”
