Kapaun Mt. Carmel’s Emma Bezdek – Athlete of the Month Presented by Melanie Rene Jewelry

Senior guard Emma Bezdek has been described by coach Billy Graf of the Kapaun Mt. Carmel varsity basketball team as one of the hardest workers he has ever coached. Bezdek said she loves playing on this team and the way they support one another.

“My team is like one big family. We love and support each other all the time, but we are very competitive and trying to steal each other’s spot while at practice. Everyone on the team would do anything for each other, no matter what grade,” said Bezdek.

As a student-athlete, Bezdek is involved with other activities including music ministries, National Honor Society and Sports Leadership Committee.

“Being a student-athlete is very difficult because Kapaun asks a lot of you academically and athletically. All the student athletes help each other because we all know what another is going through,” said Bezdek.

Her plans once she is a graduate of Kapaun Mt. Carmel include college and working towards becoming an educator. “I plan to attend college and become a high school math teacher but undecided where,” said Bezdek. With the season rapidly approaching, the senior said she is excited to see how her team will rise to the challenge each and every game they play.
