Kapaun Mt. Carmel’s Christina Nguyen – Athlete of the Month Presented by Melanie Rene Jewelry

Kapaun Mount Carmel senior Christina Nguyen has played soccer since she was six years old. To say she’s spent a lot of time on the pitch is an understatement. But that time is paying off. The senior is one of the top defenders in the area.

“I’ve played since I was six, so about 11 years,” said Nguyen. “I’m a defender or more specifically an outside back.”

Nguyen said she loves being part of the team at Kapaun and she loves how her teammates work hard to be successful on the field.

“I love the way our team has grown together in the past couple years and I love all the memories we’ve made together playing the game we love. I like seeing how hard we all work too,” said Nguyen. “Based on our players, I’ve got high expectations and high hopes for this season. I think we’re going to do very well.”

Nguyen is looking forward to life after high school. She has plans to attend college and focus on her academics. This season could be her last as a soccer player.

“After I graduate, I don’t think I’m going to continue my soccer career. I’m planning on attending the University of Kansas but I’m currently undecided in my major,” said Nguyen.
