Kapaun Mt. Carmel Senior Shoutouts – Presented by R2 Center for Dentistry

Congratulations to the seniors of 2020. We wish you good luck in the future.

Hunter Shonka – Kapaun Mt. Carmel

Hunter is a 2020 graduate from Kapaun. He was a four year football player and starting running back his Junior and Senior year.

Hunter plans to attend Wichita State University in the fall and major in Finance.

Lauren Rudy – Kapaun Mt. Carmel

Lauren Rudy was a standout three-sport athlete at Kapaun Mount Carmel High School, where she competed in golf, basketball and soccer.

In golf, Rudy was a part of the Crusaders golf team that took fourth at the 5A Tournament last fall and had the fourth best score on the team that day.

On the basketball floor, Rudy was an all-league honorable mention selection this year and last season in soccer, Rudy was also selected to the all-league honorable mention team.

Next year, Rudy is headed off to Kansas State University where she will be a member of the Wildcat Rowing team.

Claire Bruening – Kapaun Mt. Carmel

Claire Bruening was a cross country and track runner and basketball player for Kapaun Mount Carmel High School.

Since middle school Bruening has participated in the following: swimming, cheerleading, volleyball, basketball and track.

Outside of sports, Bruening enjoys photography, painting and reading.

Next year, Bruening will be attending Pittsburg State University and she plans to major in nursing and minor in Fine Arts.

Jairus Kennedy – Kapaun Mt. Carmel

Jairus Kennedy, a 2020 Kapaun Mt. Carmel graduate, will be attending Kansas State University in the fall. Jairus will be part of the Wildcat football team and plans to major in business.

Jairus received academic and athletic honors while attending Kapaun Mt. Carmel, including his senior year when he earned all league honors as punter, wide receiver, cornerback, and kick returner as well as all state honors as offensive back. Jairus played basketball and football all 4 years of high school and is looking forward to continuing his football career with the Wildcat family. Jairus’ favorite high school memory is the Andover/Kapaun football game his junior year when he played quarterback and led the Crusaders to a victory.

During his high school years, Jairus spent time volunteering for several different community organizations including the United Way, Kansans for Life, and His Helping Hands.

Clare Channel – Kapaun Mt. Carmel

Clare Channel finished her high school career at Kapaun Mount Carmel with a 4.1 grade point average with honors and AP classes. She was also a member of the St. Gianna Catholic Health Academy.

In athletics, Channel was a four-year letter winner in softball and will continue her softball career next year at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Channel plans on pursuing a major in science and a career in medicine.

Reese Danitschek – Kapaun Mt. Carmel

Reese ran Track all 4 years in high school specializing in the mile and 800 meter races. He was varsity team captain his junior and senior seasons. He also ran Cross Country for 3 years, and was the varsity team captain his senior season. Reese was a member of the National Honor Society, and was the founder of a tutoring program for Magdalen Catholic School. During the summer before his senior year, he was a top 10 finalist in the Entrepreneurship Expo U.S. Nationals in Detroit, earning a $2000 grant. Later in the summer, he attended Boys State.

Reese’s favorite things about high school: Spending time with friends, running in cross country and track meets, and attending Kapaun basketball games.

Reese will attend Benedictine College majoring in Biology on a premed track. He will also run Cross Country and Track at Benedictine.
