Golf State Recap Presented By Garden City Community College

Class 6A – Team standings 

Derby finished eighth place. 

Class 5A – Individuals 

Bishop Carroll senior Noah Holtzman went back to back winning the state championship after shooting a 127. 

“I was so happy for Noah and proud of how he led this team and did whatever he could to try to help his teammates get better,” head coach Mark Berger said. “His play both days was amazing, but in particular on Tuesday his 61 was a round like no one has ever seen in a state tournament.”

Kapaun junior Asher Whitaker finished second with a score of 134. 

Hutchinson senior Ty Adkins tied-third with a score of 135. 

Bishop Carroll freshman Maximus Farber tied-third with a score of 135. 

Andover Central freshman Colt Farrow finished fifth with a score of 137. 

Andover sophomore Aidan Nguyen tied-sixth with a score of 139. 

Goddard Eisenhower junior Carson Wright tied-sixth with a score of 139. 

Kapaun senior Connor Geist finished ninth with a score of 140. 

Team standings 

Bishop Carroll finished first place for the first time in school history with 555 points. 

“This was our first team state championship in boys golf so the joy we all feel through this experience is overwhelming,” Berger said. 

Kapaun finished second place with a score of 565. 

The Crusaders had won the previous two state championships. 

“If you would have told us our two-day total and not won I would have thought you were nuts,” coach Corey Novascone said. “At that point you just tip your cap to Bishop Carroll Mark Berger had his team ready and they were firing on all cylinders.” 

Goddard Eisenhower finished third with a score of 570. 

Class 4A – Individuals

Circle freshman Anderson Helmer wins the state championship after shooting a 149. 

“I knew Anderson had the talent to win the individual championship,” coach Kyle Madden said. “He is a hard working kid on the course and puts in the extra time outside of practice to be successful.”

Team standings 

Circle finished fourth with a score of 660 points. 

“After we struggled on day one, I knew we had our work cut out for us. I told the guys to just try and improve. Play your best and we will see where we are at the end of the day. I am very proud to say not one of them gave up,” coach Madden said. 

Andale finished sixth with a score of 708 points. 

Class 3A – Individuals 

Hesston senior Camden Waterson finished third with a score of 147. 

Team standings 

Hesston finished third with 642 points. 

Class 1A – Individuals 

Hutchinson Central Christian sophomore Nathan Reed finished tied-eighth with 163 points. 

Team standings 

Hutchinson Central Christian finished fourth with 694 points.
