City League Fall Sports Canceled

The Wichita School District Board of Education voted 5-2 Thursday night to place the district in the “orange” section of the criteria from The Kansas Department of Education.

This vote leads to the cancelation of fall sports for the Greater Wichita Athletic League.

Being placed in the “orange” column means digital learning for the first nine weeks for grades 6-12.

The vote comes on the heels of the league deciding to cancel all non-league competition on Monday and scheduling only league contests.

VYPE attempted to reach out to District Athletic Director Jay Means for comment, but he declined.
