Campus’ Mckenzie Goupil – Athlete Spotlight Presented By USD 261 Haysville Schools

By Blake Chadwick

Mckenzie Goupil is a Campus senior who is a part of the bowling team. The senior has been bowling since seventh grade, participating in Seneca bowling leagues until her freshman year when she first bowled for school.

Goupil is one of the leaders on the team who makes a concerted effort to stay positive and lift others even when she may not be up to it.

“Mckenzie is self-motivated both as a person and as a bowler,” head coach Kenny Fulkerson said.

Goupil’s finesse skill has helped her letter every year and become a state qualifier the past two years.

“When bowling, I always look at it as it’s just for fun winning or getting good scores just adds a bonus,” Goupil said. “In my experience, if I’m not having fun, my scores are lower, so I do my best to have a fun mindset and rub it off on my team.”

The senior’s best game was when she bowled a 701 and took first place, becoming a divisional champion.

Goupil loves bowling a lot but loves being part of the team even more.

“Our coaches, Kenny Fulkerson and Brett Marrs, look out for us as their own and always have,” Goupil said. “They help keep smiles on our faces and help us become stronger bowlers. I honestly believe it has been my greatest privilege being able to be on this amazing team for four years now.”
