Student-athletes at Belle Plaine High School know their community will support them when they take the court to compete. For Belle Plaine varsity basketball player Alayna Mowdy, knowing that support is there is a big reason why she loves to play for the name on the front of her jersey.
“Being a student-athlete at Belle Plaine is special to me because of all the support we get within our school and community,” said Mowdy. “The things I love most about my team is that we are all very competitive and play every game to win.”
Mowdy is a versatile player having played every position on the court, but this season her focus is on the guard position and helping her team compete and win.
“This season I am most excited to watch everyone’s hard work pay off and to compete with every team we face,” said Mowdy.
Away from the gym, Mowdy is involved in other activities including Student Council, National Honor Society, FCCLA, Art Club and the Recycling Team. Once her time at Belle Plaine comes to an end, the senior is keeping her options open and will turn her attention to whatever comes next.
“I am currently undecided but interested in esthetician school,” said Mowdy.
