6-Man State Football Championship – Presented by WSU Tech

After losing the first game of the season to Ashland, Cunningham quickly turned their season around winning in dominant fashion week in and out.

The Wildcats outscored opponents prior to the state championship game 520-44.

Coming into the state championship game against Cheylin, their motto was “Fight to the end.”

The game didn’t quite go as planned as Cheylin started off very hot with a 24-0 lead before Cunningham got on the board to make the score 24-8.

Cheylin would continue to roll as they went on to win their first KSHSAA sponsored state championship 57-8.

“I mean definitely an honor to make it that far,” Cunningham’s Luke Albers said. “Had a great season this year. Looking forward to trying to make it again next year.”
