Buhler High School’s Brock McCurdy – Kansas Football Preview Poll Winner

By Ember McElrath

For Brock McCurdy, football is more about family than anything else. “Football means I have brothers who will always have my back, it means I am a part of something bigger than just me.” said Brock. “It is definitely a brotherhood and I love it!”

Now a senior at Buhler High School, Brock is a wide receiver as well as a defensive back for the Crusaders. Loving sports and being a highly competitive person makes football the perfect sport for him. “I love the contact and I love to hit people without getting in trouble,” said Brock. “There is also nothing better than scoring a great touchdown either. My brother holds the Buhler record for the most receiving touchdowns in a single game and I would love to try to beat that record this year.”

Not only does his brother, Briggam, give him great motivation he is also the person he looks up to the most. “He was always a natural athlete no matter what sport he was in, he was always so confident when he stepped onto the field and he never let the opinions of others bother him mentally. He makes me want to do my best,” said Brock.

His brother being his biggest influence it is only fitting that he was also in his favorite football memory. “My favorite memory is playing varsity as a sophomore with my older brother when he was a senior,” Brock said. “I always knew he had my back, and I had his.”
