Sunrise knocks off top-ranked Montverde

The Sunrise Christian Academy boys basketball team upset the top-ranked team in the country, Montverde Academy, 69-66 in overtime Monday night.

Sunrise’s victory also snapped Montverde’s 44-game winning streak, which dated back to April 5, 2019.

The Buffaloes erased a nine-point fourth quarter deficit in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime.

The win avenged an earlier loss in the season to Montverde and moved Sunrise’s record to 17-2 on the season.

Baylor signee Kendall Brown led Sunrise in scoring with 21 points.
