Chaparral’s Jack Francis was voted a defensive back poll winner. Francis isn’t only excited about the approaching season, but also the new competition the Roadrunners’ will get to face.
“Super, super pumped about this season,” Francis said. “Bringing back lots of two and three year starters with tons of experience on both sides of the ball. Also a couple new teams on the schedule that are gonna be fun games.”
Francis was first team all-league and all-district last season, and hoping to keep his name out there, Francis and the team have been working all summer for the upcoming season.
“We’ve had a pretty busy summer getting ready for this year,” Francis said. “Six in the morning workouts, conditioning, and practice all getting us in shape for the season.”
Making a deep run in the playoffs and getting to play some November ball is on Francis’s mind this season.
“I’d say our goals are pretty similar to most teams,” Francis said. “We definitely want to win a district and league championship, as well as making a deep run in the playoffs at least.”
Francis has many options for his future, and plans to decide closer to graduation.
“I’m not completely sure what I’m going to do after high school yet,” Francis said. “I either want to go to Kansas State or play football at a smaller school, depending on what I can do this season. After that, I’ll come back home and run the family farm.”
