Noah Gonzalez of Eisenhower was voted as the Wichita Large School Preseason Soccer Player of the Year. Gonzalez received a little over 9,000 votes, which was more than 30 percent of the overall vote. “I am very grateful for the people that voted for me,” Gonzalez said. “I was not expecting to win this but I’m happy to be on top.”
Gonzalez was a second team all-league center back last season for the Tigers, which won AVCTL Division II. He scored one goal and recorded five assists.
This year, Gonzalez wants Eisenhower to take it one step further. “My goals for this year are to win the Goddard-Campus Invitational again, win our division, and qualify for state,” Gonzalez said.
When he is not playing soccer for Eisenhower, Gonzalez plays for FC Wichita 05 in the fall and the winter. He also participates in powerlifting at Eisenhower.
Next year, Gonzalez wants to play soccer in college, but at this point he is undecided where he will be going.
