Class 6A

Boys

BV North 67, Campus 59

Final stats: Campus was led by Stevie Strong, who scored a game-high 26 points and had five steals. Jaydan Hall added 12 points, Sterling Chapman 10 points, nine rebounds and four steals, and Andrew Howard had six points.

Campus shot 22 of 57 from the field, 4-19 from three, 11-16 FT and had 12 steals.

BV North was led by Isaac Patterson’s 19 points and 12 rebounds. He hit 11 of 12 free throws, and BV North was 17 of 19 from the line, including 11 of 13 in the final period.

Nikko Taylor added 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting, and Luke Adams had 14 points, Kernan Bundy.

Fourth quarter

Jaydan Hall with a layup and two free throws gives Campus the lead.

Nikko Taylor’s three-point play with 5:50 to go put BV North up 47-44.

With 2:51 to go, BV North has a 51-47 lead. Nikko Taylor with a team-high 15 points. Strong has 20.

With 1:20 to go, BV North had extended its lead to 60-49.

Campus within 63-56 after Stevie Strong scores with 25.3 to go.

Third quarter 

BV North retakes the lead at 1:26 to go on a Nikko Taylor basket, 38-36. BV North on a 12-2 run. Campus has missed its last eight shots, all within 10 feet.

Second quarter

Campus used a 7-2 run — including two baskets by Andrew Howard — to get within 18-17 in the first two minutes of the second quarter.

Jaydan Hall then gave Campus the lead with his second three, 20-18 at 5:45.

Campus took a 10-point lead, 32-22, off some hot shooting.

Campus took a 32-26 lead into the break, with Stevie Strong leading the way with 14 points and three steals. Jaydan Hall had eight points, Andrew Howard six and Sterling Chapman four.

BV North hit 5 of 8 field goals in the first quarter but was 4 of 14 in the second as Campus made its run. Kernan Bundy, Isaac Patterson and Luke Adams each had six points and Patterson added six rebounds and three assists.

Girls

SMNW 61, Topeka 54

Saige Grampsas scored a game-high 26 points, hitting 8 of 9 FG, 2-3 3s and 8 of 10 FT. Kennedy Taylor had 15 points on 5 of 9 FG and also nine rebounds.

SMNW hit 18 of 30 shots and 20 of 30 from three.

Topeka’s Nijaree Canady scored 25 points, hitting 10 of 17 FG and finished with 12 rebounds and four steals. Lilly Smith added 10 points.

Topeka shot 20 of 57 from the field, 4 of 23 from three and 10 of 14 free throws.

First quarter

Topeka goes up 7-2, forcing an SMNW timeout with 6:03 to go.

After one, Topeka held a 15-14 lead after Ericka Ojeda hit a late three for SMNW.

Second quarter 

Topeka hit an early field goal, but then went cold. SMNW with the 26-19 lead with a minute to go.

In the battle in the paint — Topeka’s Nijaree Canady with nine points, 2 rebounds. SMNW’s Kennedy Taylor has four points, four rebounds.

SMNW’s Saige Grampsas has 12 points and is perfect from the field and the free throw line.

Third quarter

Kiki Smith and Tae Thomas both hit threes to put Topeka up 32-31 over SMNW with 5:33 3Q. After an SMNW time, Nijaree Canady was fouled inside, hit both free throws for the 34-31 lead.

Nijaree Canady with 16 points for Topeka, while Saige Grampsas has 15 for SMNW and Kennedy Taylor 13.

Fourth quarter

With 5:34 to go, SMNW leads 46-41.

Girls

St. Thomas Aquinas 52, Andover Central 44

Final stats:

Aquinas was led by Beatrice Culliton, who had 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Jamya McPherson with 10 points. Charlotte O’Keefe had 12 rebounds.

Andover Central’s Brittany Harshaw scored a game-high 18 points and had seven rebounds, while teammate Ellie Stearns had 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

First quarter

St Thomas Aquinas led 14-9 after one.

At the half, Aquinas took a 30-14 lead. Aquinas shot 14 of 31 from the field, while Andover Central was 6 of 25. Ellie Stearns led Andover Central with nine points.

After three, Aquinas 44-29.

Andover Central within 47-41 with 35 seconds to go.

Aquinas with the win, its fifth straight.

Boys

Maize 55, Topeka West 43

It is Maize’s first title.

Maize was led by Avery Johnson, who hit 3 of 4 threes and scored a game-high 17 points. Winston Bing added 11 points, hitting three three-pointers.

Maize hit 20 of 47 field goals, 7 of 14 threes and outrebounded Topeka West 32-17.

Topeka West was led by Marque Wilkerson and Trevion Alexander, who scored 13 apiece. Zander Putthoff added 12 points. Elijah Brooks had three blocks and eight rebounds.

First quarter

Topeka West with a 12-10 lead after the first quarter, following an 8-0 run.

Second quarter

Maize opens the second period with a 6-0 run for the 17-12 lead.

Maize with the 22-15 lead over Topeka West. Maize outscored Topeka West, which didn’t have a second period field goal, 12-3.

Avery Johnson has a game-high 10 points for Maize, while Marque Wilkerson has seven for Topeka West.

Bishop Miege 94, Louisburg 40

Final stats

Miege was led by Harrison Braudis (22 points), Taj Manning (18), Mark Mitchell (16) and Christian Bowen-Webb (14). Manning also had 10 rebounds, Braudis four assists and four steals and Hall four assists.

Miege shot 33 of 49 from the field and outrebounded Louisburg 33-20.

Louisburg’s Julian Margrave scored 15 and Weston Guetterman had 10.

At the half, Bishop Miege had a 48-23 lead over Louisburg.

Girls

Bishop Miege 51, McPherson 36

Miege’s Gabrielle Henderson-Artis scored 15 to lead the way, while teammate Payton Verhulst ahd 14 points and seven rebounds, as well as four steals. Adrianna Smith had 13 rebounds and four assists, while Emajin McCallop had five steals.

Grace Pyle scored 16 points to lead McPherson, hitting 4 of 10 threes. Kassidy Beams added 10 points, while Peyton Howard had eight rebounds. Emma Malm had four assists.

First quarter

Bishop Miege with a 12-11 lead over McPherson.

Second quarter

Miege leads 25-22 over McPherson.

Third quarter

Grace Pyle with a three-pointer to get McPherson within 34-30 with 2:24 to go in the period. Payton Verhulst has three fouls for Miege.

Cheney 60, Sabetha 54

Final stats

Kylee Scheer scored 25 points to help lead the Cardinals to the undefeated season. Scheer hit 9 of 9 from the free-throw line and made two threes, and also had five rebounds and four steals.

Campbell Hague and Korri Lies scored nine apiece, and Lies was 3 of 5 from three.

Sabetha’s Leah Renyer scored 24 points, while Melinna Schumann had 18 points and nine rebounds.

First half

Cheney’s Kylee Scheer led the Cardinals with 11 points as they took a 29-20 lead over Sabetha. Sabetha’s Leah Renyer had 12.

After three, Cheney 35, Sabetha 30.

Hesston’s Cason Richardson scored 16 points and Brayden Schilling had seven rebounds.

Final stats

Hillsboro’s Matthew Potucek scored 17 points, while Brekyn Ratzlaff had 16 and Grayson Ratzlaff 14 points and 11 rebounds. Breckyn Ratzlaff also had four assists.

Wabaunsee was led by Braden Meseke’s 22 points and Cade Oliver’s 12.

Hillsboro had a 31-27 lead at the half.

It is Sterling’s first title.

Sterling’s Bennie Horsch had 16 points and six rebounds, Makenna Linden 11 points and six rebounds and Kali Briar had 12 points and five steals.

Colgan’s Lauren Yaghnour had 10 points.

Olpe’s Jordan Barnard had 17 points, Truman Bailey 11, Derek Hoelting and Damien Redeker each had 10.

Cunningham’s Morgan Meyers had 15 points and five assists, while teammates Madie McGuire and Maddi Panek each had eight rebounds.

At the half, Cunningham and Central Plains were tied at 17-all.
