Kapaun Mount Carmel has hired Marty Straub as its new Athletic Director for the 2021-2022 school year.
Straub previously worked for the Crusaders as a teacher, Athletic Director and coach from 1984-1992.
“We are pleased to be able to fill this position with such a talented administrator who brings significant experience to our team and has a gift for mentoring and developing student athletes and coaches,” said Kapaun Mount Carmel principal, Chris Bloomer.
For the past 27 years, Straub has been the principal and assistant principal at Hays High School and prior to that spent two years as an assistant principal at Derby High School.
Straub takes over an athletic program that has had a successful 2020-2021 school year. The Crusaders’ football program went 8-2 in Weston Schartz’s first season, the girls golf program won the 5A championship, the girls tennis program took second at state and the boys and girls basketball teams have a combined record of 28-14.
“I am honored to be back in Wichita, close to family, and to be back at KMC,” Straub said. “I look forward to enhancing and elevating the athletic program by helping our student athletes continue the tradition of excellence both on the field and in the classrooms.”
